ESPN’s “Inside the NBA” host Ian Eagle has said he would never marry interracial couples.
Speaking with “Outside the NBA,” Eagle told the host that he believes in the “love and commitment” between two people of different races.
But Eagle said he believes marriage is a “choice” and “not something that happens by choice.”
“I would never be that one person to marry somebody who is not black,” Eagle said.
“If you don’t have a choice to marry a person of color, you can marry a white person.
You can marry anybody.”
While Eagle said it would be “a tragedy” if he were to marry interracially, he added that he would “always be a white man.”
He said he does not believe he has the same “self esteem” that someone of color has and that he is “not going to let that stop me from loving people of all colors.”
“The best thing you can do is not let yourself be defined by the color of your skin,” he said.
