Here are the top five tips that should help you save time, money and make your wedding day a success.1.
Set a date that worksFor most couples, the date they set is the one that they are most comfortable with, says Dr Andrew Kavukcuoglu, from the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Family and Community Care Centre.
“They’re looking for a date where they can get the most bang for their buck, and that’s a date with a lot of dates to choose from,” he says.
“But it’s also important to set a date which is consistent across the week so that you don’t have to make any hard decisions about when you want your wedding ceremony to take place.”

Find a venueIf you’re looking to get a wedding in a venue close to your home, it’s worth booking a wedding venue early.
“If you have a large family or an older couple, they might want to have a ceremony at a place that is convenient for them,” says Dr Kavruoglu.
“Or if you have an event in a larger city, or you’re in a location that you know will be open and available for weddings, you might be able to get in touch with a wedding photographer to get the best shot possible.”3.
Find the right wedding venueIf your venue is close to you, you should make sure you have options available if you need a smaller venue.
“A wedding venue should ideally be within walking distance of your home,” says Tracey Worsley, a wedding planner with The Weddings Project.
“The key is to be able for them to accommodate the large number of people that are going to be attending your wedding.”4.
Get the wedding cakeIt’s important to make sure your wedding cake is ready to go when you’re ready to take the vows.
“Most people can get a cake out and have it ready to decorate within a couple of hours,” says Wors, but you’ll need to ensure that it’s ready to receive your wedding vows.
For wedding cakes, she recommends a product that’s both durable and can withstand a lot more wear and tear.
“You want to make it durable enough to take it around the world but also durable enough for you to go and use it at home,” she says.5.
Set up a date and timeThe best way to ensure you get the date and the time you need is to get that booked in advance.
“Make sure that you have some form of advance notice to say you’re doing your wedding,” says Mr Wors.
“So if you can make arrangements for the day you want, you’ll get it done.”
“Also make sure that your wedding planner is available to help you make that date,” he adds.
